Overview A school bus driver is responsible for safely transporting
students to and from school and school-related activities. This
role requires adherence to scheduled routes, ensuring the safety of
children, and maintaining the bus in good condition. Key
Responsibilities 1. Safe Transportation: - Operate the school bus
in a safe manner according to established routes and schedules. 2.
- Ensure the safety of students while boarding, riding, and exiting
the bus. 3. - Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus
to ensure it is in good working condition. 4. 5. Student
Supervision: - Maintain order and discipline among students during
transit. 6. - Assist students in crossing streets safely and ensure
they are picked up and dropped off at designated locations. 7. -
Report any student behavioral issues to school authorities. 8. 9.
Compliance and Safety: - Follow all traffic laws and school bus
regulations. 10. - Comply with all state and federal transportation
laws and regulations. 11. - Maintain a clean and mechanically sound
bus. 1. Emergency Management: - Be prepared to handle emergency
situations, including evacuation procedures. 2. - Report accidents
or other incidents involving the bus. 1. Communication: -
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
2. - Report delays, accidents, or other issues to the appropriate
school authorities. 3. - Keep accurate records of attendance,
routes, and any incidents. Qualifications - Education: 1. High
school diploma or equivalent. - Licensing: 1. Valid Commercial
Driver's License (CDL) Class B with School Bus (S) and Passenger
(P) endorsement. 2. Clean driving record. - Experience: - Previous
experience as a bus driver or in a similar role is preferred. - -
Skills: - Strong knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving
techniques. - - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. -
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and in emergency
situations. - - Basic mechanical knowledge for conducting bus
inspections and minor repairs. - Physical Requirements - Ability to
sit for extended periods. - Ability to handle the physical demands
of assisting children, including lifting and bending. - Good visual
and auditory acuity to ensure the safety of students and operation
of the bus. Working Conditions - School bus drivers typically work
