Northrop Grumman's Corporate Office seeks a director of Enterprise Employee Communications to join its Falls Church, Virginia team. The director of Enterprise Employee Communications is responsible for creating communication strategies to support the company's brand and reputation, performance objectives, best culture commitment, growth strategies and talent acquisition and retention priorities. He or she will specifically oversee internal communications support in concert with Human Resources, including, but not limited to, Benefits, Talent Management and Development, and Compensation communications support. These communications teams will report to the director in direct or dotted-line relationships. The director provides strategic communication counsel and manages a wide range of communication projects for key stakeholders across Northrop Grumman, including collaboration with sector and Enterprise Services communications organizations and senior executives in the corporate office and across the company. Candidate is responsible for designing, executing and measuring global organizational and initiative-based communication strategies, oversight of Northrop Grumman enterprise-wide communications channels and events, as well as communications within the Corporate Office. This position is full time in Falls Church, Virginia and reports to the Vice President of Enterprise Communications as a member of the Corporate Communications team. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Strategy Develop, implement, and measure the overall employee communication strategy for enterprise-wide messaging that considers all audiences and levels in the organization and is consistent with Northrop Grumman's overall communication strategy and practices. Develop, implement and measure the overall employee communication strategy for Human Resources-related communications, ensuring consistency among the many interdependent initiatives and their messages. Promote and build the Northrop Grumman brand to all audiences within the corporation. Develop and implement a specific strategy to improve message flow from senior management to, and through, frontline management. Identify opportunities to continually improve upon the company's capability to deliver excellent global communications strategies, tactics and products. Plan, implement and measure communications support for enterprise-wide HR-related initiatives, including talent acquisition and retention, performance management, and employee engagement. Collaboration In concert with the Corporate Vice President, Communications and Vice President, Enterprise Communications, cultivate trusted partnerships with senior executives to help influence communication style and effectiveness and generate results for the business. Act as lead collaborator with sector and Enterprise Services communications organizations with regard to enterprise-wide initiatives, campaigns and messages to ensure consistency, coordination and alignment of timing and intent of messages. Lead interface with corporate and sector global communicators, Global Business Development, and Country Executives to ensure an integrated and consistent communications program. Work collaboratively and interactively with Enterprise Services communications team, cultivating crossover skills and experiences for all team members. Provide leadership for the enterprise-wide Employee Communications team; organize meetings to share information and best practices. Maintain positive relationships and collaboration with our IT business partners, especially as they relate to Communications strategies and our ability to deliver messages to all types of employees at diverse and often disconnected locations. Operations Supervise the work of the Enterprise Employee Communications team members and ensure high quality execution and positive interaction with other functions within Corporate Communications, Enterprise Services and sector communications organizations. Deliver captivating, relevant, data- and feedback-driven information to employees using emerging, traditional and non-traditional communications avenues and outlets. Develop editorial policy and manage employee communications vehicles, including the Company Intranet, Global Company Intranet, newsletters and other communications vehicles. Make use of a wide range of communications vehiclesincluding face-to-face, video, photo, digital, print, voice, and social mediato creatively engage and inform and inspire action among all levels of employees globally. Write and edit messages emanating from the Corporate Employee Communications team. In concert with the vice president, Enterprise Communications, provide communications counsel and support for Corporate Office functions, including the CEO, Chief Operating Officer, Human Resources, Global Corporate Responsibility, Business Management, Law, Government Relations and other organizations. Work as a business partner with senior executives of to support key initiatives. Lead and participate in Enterprise and Corporate Communications engagement actions. Ensure that employee communications budget, schedules, and performance standards are met. Measure effectiveness of communication activities and use feedback to improve future efforts. Oversee operation and improvement of Northrop Grumman's intranet to ensure it appropriately meets the needs of aligned businesses, sectors, country executives and other key stakeholders. Contribute to the overall planning and execution of senior executive leadership events, including quarterly webcasts. Supervise other communication consultants and managers on a project basis. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (e.g., Communication, Journalism, English, Business) and 15 of years communication experience with an emphasis on internal or corporate communications or master's degree in a related discipline with 13 of years communication experience. Knowledge/interest in digital media technology and trends. Experience and ability to manage other Communications professionals. Strong project management skills with the ability to execute programs with speed, accuracy and efficiency. Attention to detail in delving high quality results. Proven ability to learn quickly and work in a fast paced team environment. Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to influence others. Proven track record of advising and partnering with senior executives on strategic issues. Experience in developing multi-channel internal and external communications strategies, plans and campaigns. Ability and willingness to perform both strategic and tactical elements of the role. Creative thinker, with a desire and ability to seek opportunities for continuous improvement. Exceptional writing and editing skills with proven expertise in using different styles to reflect the nature of the stakeholder, audience and message. An uncompromising commitment to quality and detail. Self-motivated, self-starter with a strong desire to innovate. Preferred Qualifications: Change management certification and/or experience is strongly preferred. Experience working in aerospace, defense or high-tech industry.
