Job Description Job Description Description: Job Title: School Nurse Location: Campus Job Type: Part-Time (30 hours per week); Hourly Reports To: Head of School Job Summary: As the school nurse, you will respond to children in need of immediate health care while on school premises. You will treat minor illnesses and injuries and administer medications. You are also responsible for managing medical records for returning and new students. This role is ideal for anyone with a nursing background who has a passion for children. Agrees with and upholds the principles outlined in Articles II, III, and XII, section 1 of the Constitution of the Christian School Association of Greater Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Self-motivated, dynamic, well-organized, and adaptable individual with a genuine desire to connect with, nurture, and minister to students and athletes. Cultivates healthy and positive relationships with students, athletes, parents, colleagues, and school administration. Willingness to participate in professional development and training as required. Key Responsibilities: Medication administration. Glucose monitoring. Ensure that all students undergo annual vision, hearing and health screenings with public school nurse. Provides health assessments. Communicate with student families regarding continuous illnesses (lice, chicken pox). Maintain student health records. Maintain confidentiality. Initiates referral to parents, school personnel, or community for health interventions, remediation, and follow through. Utilizes existing health resources to provide appropriate care of students. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Requirements: Qualifications: Associates degree in nursing required, bachelor's degree preferred. Registered Nurse license required. Current certification in CPR and AED, or willingness to obtain, required. Minimum of 1 year in public health nursing, community health nursing, school health nursing or pediatric nursing preferred. High degree of skill with Microsoft Office Suites and other windows applications. Effective and concise communication style; displays strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills. Follow policies and procedures; complete administrative tasks correctly and on time and supports organization’s goals and values. Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently and sets goals and objectives. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality and monitors own work to ensure quality. Meets deadlines; completes work in a timely manner; strives to increase productivity and works quickly. Willingness to participate in professional development and training as required. Physical Requirements: The ability to stand, sit, move around the office for extended periods, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Lifting, bending, and carrying classroom materials and supplies. Operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine. Effective communication, both verbal and written, and listen regularly.
