TechnicianJob Title: Technician Reports to: SuperintendentFLSA Status: Non-exempt Division/Department: DIRL/ProjectsSummaryResponsible for cabling and termination of Cat3, Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, CATV, Fiber Optic Cable and various other wiring disciplines. The position includes the testing and troubleshooting of wiring problems in both ISP and OSP environments.Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for running new cabling in new or existing buildings
• Termination and testing of new cabling
• Responsible for testing and troubleshooting of cable
• Setting up new telecommunications frames
• Grounding required for telecommunications equipmentKnowledge and Skill RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Must be able to read construction drawings and line diagrams
  • Must be reliable
  • Must be willing to learn all aspects of low voltage
  • Must have knowledge of basic computer skills and be able to demonstrate good writing skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook are very helpful
  • Must work well with little supervision individually and in a team environment
  • Must be knowledgeable in various wiring configurations and terminations
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs consistently
  • Required to use a ladder, power tools and other related tools
  • Technical skills and knowledge of telecommunications industry and/or installation
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Must pass IET in house training
  • Complete at least 3 online training classes related to the communications industry each year
  • Confined Space certification preferred
  • Able to obtain access to government facilities a must
  • Obtaining a Security Clearance preferred
